Whoops! Hungarian Team Looking At UEFA Disqualification for Bringing In Unlisted Player
Hey, who’s that guy wearing our uniform and kicking the ball at the opposing goalkeeper?
Hungarian side Debrecen is confronting a possible elimination from UEFA’s Champions League for fielding defender Peter Mate in the waning minutes of their qualifying match against Bulgarian side Litex Lovech.
Mate entered the game at the 90th minute. However, he was not listed in Debrecen’s roster.
The Hungarian side won the game away in Bulgaria last Thursday by a score of 2-1 — putting it ahead 4-1 in aggregate.
Reports in the Hungarian press say UEFA is weighing its options about what, if any, measures should be taken against Debrecen.
