The Great Twitter Follower Scare of 2010

It was on the tenth of May in the year 2010 when tens of millions of Twitter followers disappeared in an instant.

It was a bug, they said. A bug that would leave its scar for an eternity. (Well, ten minutes. But ten minutes is an eternity in Twitter time.)

Suddenly the playing field was leveled in the wake of decimated followers. Suddenly as many people were following Ashton Kutcher as Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez

Alas, it was an emergency that was not to be. For, despite the goose egg beside the followers in all Twitter accounts, messages could still viewed by all.

Had this been an actual emergency then would not have known that at precisely 12:35 pm yesterday Fred Jurgensenberg of Scottsdale, Arizona was about to order a pepperoni pizza and a Dr. Pepper.
