Hungarians Celebrate Their National Holiday

Cities and towns throughout Hungary observed St. Stephen’s Day on August 20th.

The national holiday honors the country’s patron saint and commemorates the founding of the Hungarian state.

Traditional celebrations include the festival of the new bread, the procession of St. Stephen’s Holy Right Hand around the Basilica in Budapest, a flower carnival in eastern city of Debrecen, parades, art shows, air shows, and fireworks.
