One-of-a-Kind Businesses: The Art of Grabbing Game Balls
Zack Hample is the king of snagging baseballs at major league games — having gotten his hands on over 4,600 of them thus far in a career. And that total will surely reach five digits some day.
Now through his business, Watch with Zack, the 33-year-old resident of the Big Apple is offering to accompany fans to Yankee or Mets games and show them the techniques of grabbing a game ball. For $500 for the first game and $300 for any subsequent game, Hample guarantees customers that they will leave the stadium with at least one ball from the game.
Hample, undoubtedly among the more colorful people at the ballpark, already has three books to his credit. The most recent, The Baseball: Stunts, Scandals, and Secrets Beneath the Stitches, was released in March.
Among his many attributes, Hample is a baseball polyglot, able to say “Please throw me the ball” in 34 languages.
