Bill Gates 500/1 to Become Next Apple CEO
Tim Cook, Apple’s chief operating officer, is the overwhelming favorite at 1/5 to take over from Steve Jobs as the company’s next number one, according to Paddy Power, the Irish betting house.
Meanwhile, the chances of Bill Gates, the Microsoft founder, present-day philanthropist and ever-lasting archnemisis of Apple, becoming Steve Jobs’ replacement stand at 500/1. Michael O’Leary, the CEO of budget airline Ryanair, shares the same equally unlikely odds of rising to head honcho status of the maker of Mac, iPhones and iPads.
Adventurer and entrepreneur Richard Branson comes in slightly better at 200/1.
Other Apple insiders, such as Peter Oppenheimer, Bertrand Serlet and Scott Forstall, lead the list of potential Jobs successors.
However, a smart wager would be that Jobs has no intention of leaving his post any time soon.
Odds 200/1 David Beckham’s Next Baby Will Be Called Pele
While still on the subject of the intriguing business of novelty wagers, this bet by oddsmaker Paddy Power on the name of David and Victoria next baby also caught our eye.

The odds apply “to the given first name of the fourth child born to David and Victoria Beckham. Must happen by end of 2012.”
The name Galaxy, ie, Beckham’s Los Angeles club, also comes in at 200/1.

William and Kate Wedding: 4/1 Queen’s Hat Will Be Yellow
You could hit it big should you wager that Queen Elizabeth II have a black hat atop her head when her grandson Prince William weds Kate Middleton on April 29 at Westminster Abbey.
Of all the colors, black is the longest of shots: coming in at 20/1, according to the odds set by Irish bookmaker Paddy Power.
Yellow, light blue, purple and pink are the favorites at 4/1, 9/2, 11/2 and 6/1, respectively.
As for the color of Kate’s wedding dress, ivory leads the way at 4/6. However, those who bet on a brown bridal gown might be able to retire should they call it right. The odds for that are 66/1.
