Kicking the ‘Kicking the Can’ Habit
We are in the midst of a bubble, a cliché bubble. As policymakers throughout the globe pussyfoot their way around finding solutions to fix ailing economies, one phrase in online financial media has been overbought.
I refer to “kicking the can down the road.”
“Europe is just kicking the can down the road with its approach to Greece.”
“Isn’t Obama just kicking the can down the road with his position on the deficit?”
Indeed, it is an apt description, but surely there must be numerous other ways to convey what is going on. We need some variety. After all, politicians are likely to kick the can down the road for a very long time.
