Angelina Jolie Graces Budapest
Has anyone in history done more to teach Americans about geography than Angelina Jolie? This weekend the Salt protagonist and humanitarian touched down in Budapest (during a national holiday) for the purpose of – according to some reports – directing and starring in a film about the Bosnian War.
Needless to say, the arrival of one half of Brangelina in the Hungarian capital shook the local press out of the customary summer stupor which is often deemed “cucumber season” – as there is not much else to report on but the growth of said gourd.
Hungarian tabloid Bors wrote: “Angelina Jolie secretly arrived in Budapest to make preparations for her new film. The international star will spend months here once shooting begins.”
Blikk, another Hungarian red top, reported: “The Oscar-winning star made a whistle-stop tour of town and then was on her way to Serbia. With little luggage but a large security detail, she landed at (Budapest’s) Ferihegy Airport’s terminal for small planes where several microbuses barricaded the entrance, so that nobody could accidentally take a photo of the family.”
The paper goes on to say that four microbuses accompanied her back to the airport. Blikk has photos here.
Jolie spent her stay in Hungary with four of her adopted children (Maddox, Shiloh, Pax, Zahara) and two of her own (Vivienne, Leon). Partner Brad Pitt did not partake of this magyar excursion.
