The George Clooney - Arianna Huffington Spat
George Clooney's initial forays into the
blogosphere have proved to be problematic.
The Academy Award-winning actor claims that
an entry he allegedly penned for the popular
site The Huffington Post was actually taken from
statements he made in interviews for a newspaper
and on television. Arianna Huffington, the
proprietress of the blog, says this is not
the case. Our team of so-called reporters
with far too much time on their hands
translated what each had to say about the matter.
Arianna Huffington: This was an honest
misunderstanding.
Translation: C'mon, let's give those
Republicans a lesson or two on political infighting.
Arianna Huffington: But any misunderstanding
that occurred, occurred between Clooney and the
publicist.
Translation: Okay, it was the same
publicist who wrote that Tom Cruise is the
father of Katie Holmes's baby. But still.
George Clooney: Miss Huffington's blog
is purposefully misleading
and I have asked her to clarify the facts.
Translation: Clarify the facts? I really
just don't get this whole Internet thing, do I?
George Clooney: I stand by my statements
but I did not write this blog.
Translation: Oh, and by the way, I never
appeared in that silly Batman outfit either.
