GI Joe Abduction

Unfortunately, the abduction of a GI Joe doll in Iraq this week is only the most recent in a long line of unseemly wartime acts involving children's toys.

Here are just a few of the more tragic examples to have befallen action figures and other playthings throughout history.

326 B.C. After intense fighting, Egyptian rebels capture and vow to behead Alexander the Great's gay Elton doll.
1540 French soldiers promise to throw porcelain replica of Henry VIII into the Seine unless England surrenders 40,000 tons of garlic to France.
1776 British forces threaten to chop off the limbs of a George Washington Barbie unless revolutionary troops surrender.
1952 Betty Boob doll is sadistically dismembered by the North Korean army.
1999 Serbs break with the Geneva Convention after playing Barry Manilow music to Barry Manilow bobblehead doll.
